Patterns of Thinking

Where is Good? In our reasoned choices. Where is Evil? In our reasoned choices. Where is that which is neither Good nor Evil? In the things outside of our own reasoned choice.” – Epictetus, Discourses, 2.16.1

It is hard to say where it is good or evil except by my own point of view. If it is my own reasoning, I would say it is judgement upon things that are faced. I know that outside of myself, it is not for me to judge. Good and evil resides based on your pattern of thinking. For there are many choices in life and patterns there are many too. Perhaps one pattern can be confusing, while another is not. Once you step away from your own thinking patterns, you can see it in another way. You should look outside of the box. This is to look at life from above. If not above, try something next to you so you can retreat if you have to. You can try it as an experiment. If it doesn’t work then you can go back to what you know. Life always gives you opportunities to try.
