Power and Control

There are things that are within our power, and things that fall outside our power. – Epictetus

The first paragraph of the “Manual” or called the “Handbook” written by Epictetus describes that there is a power that is within us.  This power is not on the mere surface of brute physical strength as some may think about.  Its not the power to outplay another in a game of wits in some sports match.  No more it is the power to climb over some financial struggle.  Perhaps a power to defeat evil in terms of good sounds seems abit fanatical, a bit over the top.

Those Who Are Wise

Remembering from high school physics class, energy has steps from still to moving.  There is the potential energy and kinetic energy describing the stillness to movement.  The two have a relationship with each other.  If there is an increase to potential energy, there is an increase to kinetic energy.  This also goes with decrease vice versa.  However, if there is none, than there is none.  Each of us have a potential within us.  However, potential begins small and increases in size, energy, and power in the amount of time and effort put into it.  There is no point in releasing energy if there is a minute amount of energy as it may never traverse from point A to B.

Build Essential

During the recent events of the widespread virus, there has been concerns to lockdown cities so to prevent further spreading.  While that became in place, the city ordinances declared that only essential businesses can be performed.  Non-essential businesses cannot.  This gave a sudden turn of events for many city folk within the city limits.  Since this was in effect with some working and many not, what is the city to do?  They cannot do what they usually do or at least for entertainment such as movie theaters, bars or nightclubs, amusement parks, and other retail.  Well at least not so openly in the public as it was in the recent past.  Well, they could at home think of ways to entertain.  However, the point is to cease the spread of the virus.

Pages of a Book

Would a book with only a cover be a book at all?  This is an insane notion.  How could a book be a book without pages.  Only a title on the cover page doesn’t make it at all.  It won’t even fancy as a paper weight if so.  I wouldn’t know what to call it.  Lets not forget about the other parts like the the bindings, graphics, the print, and countless hours of time and effort put into making a well-made book.   Creating a book might seem obvious as describing what it encompasses.  Yet, just as the process of creating a book, creating a better person needs the step by step process toward excellence.

Processing the Day

During the day, we go through a process from home to work and in between.  While we ought to put our efforts in what is necessary, often we find ourselves doing other things that could deter, fragment, or drain ourselves in the long run of the day.  Therefore suppose the process of our day could break up to micro processes.  Many of them lie between the conjunctions from one task to another and also could be littered throughout.  There are many micro processes between our work and life routine.

Steady the Moving Mind

There is a serious overload of activity during the day.  Somehow the combination of things to get done can be mountainous.  From one thing to the next, it seems the usual pattern.  There are many victims that have this issue. 

As soon as the alarm wakes you up, you begin the race of the day.  Somehow you gear towards what is next.  A series of activities launch one after the other from getting ready for work, working, going home, and even on breaks you remain on some type of movement. 

This is only the tip of the iceberg.  At home, there are dozens of things to do and even more so trying to squeeze something else into the morning activities.  Go Go Go!  For some reason, this is the mindset.  Did you forget some R. R.?

Your Contribution To Your Health

What are you putting in your body to contribute to your health?  What you put in is what you become.  This is really meaningful as it makes yourself the way you are. 

Having good health is not too difficult.  However, there are many things that could make it difficult.  In this day and age, as people are becoming more and more aware of their health, they are finding methods to improve their lives much easier.  It keeps ourselves in good shape.  There are sources available to anyone of us to make a well-rounded diet that would help bring a healthier, conscientious, and better life.  The thing is that there are many sources to choose from.  Not only are there these choices, within a product to buy or procedure to perform, there could be another phase of reference like ingredients to a healthy snack which may be composed of a bunch of things that you cannot even pronounce and for heaven’s sake not know.
